Clio’s Cloud Conference just wrapped up, and it was a time of excitement and reflection. Two main themes shaped the event:

  1. Harnessing your momentum
  2. Artificial intelligence is here

And while AI might not have been on the ClioCon signs, it was abundantly clear to all attendees that AI is here and ready for the legal world. If you missed the chance to attend ClioCon, we’ll fill you in on every important detail of the two-day event.

AI is Here, and That’s Not a Bad Thing

As you can read in the Legal Industry in 2024 Report, AI adoption is quickly rising. In 2023, just 19% of law firms were using AI, but in the last year, over 79% of firms were using AI to some degree. Nearly 25% of firms are widely using AI, and now is the time to begin your journey into AI by:

  • Dedicating a budget to grow your firm and invest in AI.
  • Leveraging integrations with the systems that you have in place to increase efficiency.
  • Put chatbots in place but be sure that all chats lead to talking to a person.

You already have technology in place that works well for your firm and clients. Integrations with other tools allow you to add AI in strategic areas of your firm without needing to stop using the tools that are working well for you.

Ushering in Hybrid Billing Models

Generative AI could perform 74% of hourly billable work. Firms will increase efficiency thanks to AI, and clients will be happier because work is performed faster. Billable time may suffer at the same time, causing firms to have lower overall revenue and firms will need to consider the loss in billable hours.

The good news?

Clients prefer flat fee billing. AI can help you complete flat fee client work faster, allowing you to get paid earlier – if you collect fast.

AI is here and will become an integral component of firms across the world. Intentional decision-making is going to be more important than ever for firms using AI, and there will be a learning curve through all of this.

ClioCon wasn’t just about AI; it was also about recognition, networking and the amazing events that took place.

CPN Named Leader, Influential Expert

For the sixth year in a row, CPN Legal was awarded by Clio. This year, we were named “Leader, Influential Expert” as part of Clio’s Channel Partner Impact Awards.

We are honored and thrilled to be recognized by Clio’s Partner and Leadership team for our impact on both clients and Clio.

This year, we also had the pleasure of collaborating with Clio on the 2024 Legal Trends Report, which was unveiled during Jack’s keynote address. The report explores shifting attitudes towards AI in the legal world, particularly for billing and marketing. We’d like to give a big thanks to our clients for trusting us and to Clio for their anonymized and historical financial data.

More From the Exhibitor Hall Floor

The Clio Cloud Conference presented us with many opportunities to have incredible conversations with some of the best legal vendors out there. Our team was busy learning all of the new ways we can help you – our clients – leverage these vendors to improve your business.

Stay tuned – we’ll have a full recap from our favorite vendors.

Here’s what else we were up to:

  • We took our infamous “Improvement Ideas Spreadsheet” to the Clio Product Lab and had a chance to sit down with the product developers to discuss ways to improve Clio. The Clio team looks forward to our spreadsheet every year because these ideas come from the people who matter most – those using their software (and, in this case, our team and clients).
  • Peggy was buzzing all over the exhibitor floor, making new connections with prospects and clients. She even helped one of our current clients get signed up for Clio Payments on Day Two!

The CPN Legal team showed up in full force this year, dressed in orange and ready to meet new clients. Every year, we have the pleasure of meeting so many incredible firms, and we’re excited about what’s in store for Clio in the future.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll cover exciting new features unveiled at the conference.
